We Believe That Prevention Is The Key
In 1984 the Director, Leanna Petrivelli, was diagnosed with uterine cancer. After surgery and three months of chemotherapy, doctors had given little hope for survival. When asked about the chance of survival without chemotherapy, the doctor told Leanna she wouldn’t live a year unless she submitted to traditional medical treatment.
With strong encouragement from her brother, Salvatore Caronna, Leanna took a trip to a raw food/fasting retreat in California and never went back to the doctor. She has been cancer-free since. In 1999, Leanna’s sister, Rose Wagner, was diagnosed with lung cancer. She had a tumor the size of a large lemon in her left lung. Because of Leanna’s experience, she decided to go the alternative route without any medical intervention. She also attended a raw food retreat which included wheat grass juice. She continued this lifestyle at home, and at her six month re-check visit with her doctor, her tumor had disappeared. She is now a nutritional consultant. |

![]() Reiki (pronounced ray key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. Reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy”. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit. Beneficial effects of Reiki include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being. Reiki is powerful, yet gentle and nurturing. Reiki Can: · Relieve stress and pain · Release emotional blockages · Stimulate the immune system · Work in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques · Relieve side effects and promote recovery What is a Reiki treatment like? The client lies on a standard massage table (fully clothed) and beginning at the head, the hands are placed in a series of positions as the practitioner works down toward the feet. The client then turns over and the hand positions are repeated. A full treatment takes about an hour. The touch is very gentle with little or no pressure applied. This is not a massage technique, but a gentle transmitting of healing energy through the Reiki Practitioners hands. Lisa Jackson has been practicing Reiki for 16 years and is available for individual Reiki sessions and Reiki classes. Lisa is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP). |
